Merit Signature Lip Lipstick Review

Merit, a beauty minimalist’s heaven, initially launched with only six essential products. Luckily, the brand listens closely to the community, and as the result a Signature Lip lipstick, Bronze Balm bronzer and a Great Skin Instant Glow serum were added to the collection.

The brand sent me three lipstick to try and they gave me an opportunity to choose the shades. I decided to go with Baby, Millennial and Cabo. Millennial is now my go-to nude shade, and Cabo is another shade I reach often to for a statement look.

Merit Signature Lip Lipstick: Baby vs Millennial

Nude lipsticks are not made equal. I chose these two similar shades to see how different these two types of nude lipsticks would look on my completion. In my opinion, Millennial works best for me, but I decided to go a step further and compare these two shades to all of my favorite nude lipsticks, lip pencils, lip oils and lip glosses.

Formula

Merit lipstick carries the same value as the originally created essentials – thoughtfully formulated to suit your everyday life by being lightweight with a satin finish sheer color. The formula is buildable so you can layer it for a bolder look. Even when you decide to layer the lipstick, it still feels comfortable on your lips.

I would compare this lipstick to a tinted balm, since it adds softness and hydration to my lips. Unlike the balm though, I still barely feel wearing it.

This Clean formula contains hydrating ingredients, such as plant-derived squalane and sunflower seed oil along with Papain enzyme that help helps soothe lips. In addition to this, it also contains stabilized vitamin C that helps to diminish the appearance of fine lines. The lipstick also has a delicate scent thanks to raspberry oil inside.

How to Use Merit Lipstick

You don’t really have to overthink this step: swipe once for a sheer color and add more layers for saturated shade. For more glossy finish, you can wear this lipstick under the Lip Oil – Merit’s Shade Slick Lip Oils are one of the best on the market.

You can easily achieve blotted color look with bolder shades, such as Cabo. I like to swipe once and blend the edges of the lipstick for a soft look that you can wear everyday. Such formula is a gift if you want to use the same lipstick from day to night.

Packaging

They say looks ain’t everything, but not when it comes to makeup! I absolutely love the packaging of this Merit Signature lipstick. The combination of brown transparent acrylic cap paired with gold bullet is absolutely stunning and timeless.

On top of looking luxurious, this pretty packaging is also sustainable  – it is made of Made with 30% recycled plastic. Each Merit beauty product ships in their signature packaging that is either recyclable, reusable, or compostable.

Merit Signature Lip Lipstick: Final Thoughts

Signature Lip Lightweight lipstick is another staple from Merit Beauty. I love everything about this lipstick – from the formula to the packaging and color range. The lipstick is very comfortable on my lips. It instantly moisturizes and softens my lips, even when my lips are as dry as you see in the photos and videos in this post. Millennial shade has replaced my favorite Kosas Stardust lipstick, which is discontinued. I also like the raspberry fragrance in this lipstick, and it doesn’t taste bad.
