In addition to Gen Nude eyeshadow pallets that I’ve reviewed in the linked post, there are some other new products from BareMinerals that I received for review.
This post includes a review of the following products: Gen Nude® Eyeshadow + Primer, Expert Shadow & Liner brush, One Fine Line Micro Precision Eyeliner, and Lashtopia Mega Volume Mineral-Based Mascara.
EXPERT SHADOW & LINER BRUSH
This dual-ended brush is not just designed only for eyes but also can be used for other parts of your face working as a universal multi-purpose brush.
The brush is made from natural (goat and pony hair, cruelty-free) and synthetic fibers and they don’t shed when I use this brush or clean it – good criteria for any makeup brush!
The larger end is a tapered eyeshadow brush, that can be used for patting the eyeshadow, concealing as well as used for contouring and highlighting!
I tried using this tapered brush with Gen Nude Eyeshadow+Primer and I love how well it works with cream formula! For eyeshadow application, I prefer other types of the brush because they work best with my eye shape.
The other end is an angled eyeliner brush that can be used with wet and dry eyeliners, for brows and even as a lip liner.
I prefer using this angled brush with dark shadows to create a blended eyeliner look without any harsh lines.
EXPERT SHADOW & LINER BRUSH is available at bareMinerals.com and Nordstrom for $28.
ONE FINE LINE MICRO PRECISION EYELINER
These are the smallest eyeliners that you can find for your eyes. They come in 6 shades: Exact Onyx, Sharp Charcoal, True Navy, Straight Spice, Accurate Espresso and Precise Plum. I received 4 of them for a test.
The color selection is really nice as you get nice shades like blue and plum which can be worn for every day and won’t look too colorful on your eyes. At the same time, they will add enough color to complete your everyday look.
They work perfectly for “tight lining” technique – when you draw your eyeliner between your lashes or very close to the roots to make them look denser and nicely defines your eye shape. Besides, it is really good for people with small eyes and those who don’t like to wear mascara every day but want to have a complete eye look and dense looking lashes.
Because these eyeliners are so tiny – only 1.5 mm in diameter – you need to consider a few things about them.
First of all, to put an eyeliner this creamy to such a tiny tube, they had to give up on the ability to retract the product back in it. So it is a propel only as it twists up – in one direction only.
Since it is so tiny and creamy and you can’t retract it back, you need to twist up only a tiny amount of product every time. Otherwise, it can break on you, or will crash when you put the cap on. If you won’t put a cap on it will dry. So retract it slowly little by little.
They are rich in pigment, waterproof and smudge proof. However, I can’t say that I can put these eyeliners without tugging or dragging my eyes when I’m trying to draw a straight line. But if I just need to place small dots between my lashes I can do it with just one hand.
Interestingly, but some shades feels slightly creamier than the others. For instance, True Navy and Precise Plum feel harder than the Straight Spice and Accurate Espresso, while the last two may be easier to break.
How to use it: Start by slowly twisting the pencil, ensuring that you only reveal the amount of product that you need. Start at the outer corner and apply in short strokes, working your way inward. No sharpening required.

The list of ingredients looks pretty nice except for the last ingredient – BHT – antioxidant and fragrance ingredient – which is rated of moderate hazard at EWG rating. Nevertheless, it is at the very bottom of the list which means its concentration is very low.
These eyeliners are indeed very fine and it becomes easier to access the inner part of your rim with such a small tip. My favorite one is Accurate Espresso, it is a shade I’m using daily now to make my eyelashes visibly denser.
ONE FINE LINE MICRO PRECISION EYELINERs are available at bareMinerals.com and Ulta for $18.
LASHTOPIA MEGA VOLUME MINERAL-BASED MASCARA
This is the blackest mascara that you can find at bareMinerals. As always, it is formulated with nourishing minerals that indeed leave your lashes soft and lightweight. I like how brushed through, fanned out my lashes are and how I can control and build up the volume.
Some people complain about the brush shape and its large size – I was a little frustrated too at first! Nevertheless, with the right application technique, you’ll get the most of this product, because the formula is so good.
I wear it quite often and usually for the whole day. I can say that it stays pretty well without smudging or flaking.
Getting in more details about this brush, it features over 600 soft and staggered bristles that catch and evenly coat each lash – this is how it yields so much volume!
This mascara is ophthalmologist-tested and safe for contact lens wearers.

The ingredient list looks pretty nice except for few ingredients in bold which have a hazard rating of 3-4 at EWG ( moderate hazard) and Benzyl Alcohol rated 5 (moderate hazard).
LASHTOPIA MEGA VOLUME MINERAL-BASED MASCARA is available at bareMinerals.com, Sephora, and Nordstrom for $19.
GEN NUDE EYESHADOW + PRIMER
BareMinerals came with an idea of creating a product that combines a cream eyeshadow and a primer in one bottle. They had a similar concept in their 5-in-1 cream eyeshadow that is now being replaced with the Gen Nude Eyeshadow+Primer. Unlike the 5-in-1 product, the Gen Nude Eyeshadow + Primer comes in 8 nude shades.
The eyeshadows/primers can be worn alone for natural “no-makeup” makeup look or underneath the eyeshadows working as a primer to smooth out the eyelid, make the eyeshadow last longer and even make the eyeshadow color pop!
These nude shades can be divided into two groups: Neutralizing and Brightening. Think of the correcting concealers when speaking of neutralizing shades as they correct imperfections and discoloration. The shades in the other group will improve the appearance of the dull skin.
Neutralizing shades: Exposed, Undressed, Low Key, Base-ic
Brightening shades: Bright AF (And Flawless), Lit, Turned Up, Woke
I received 3 colors (in bold) for the test.
The multi-tasking formula is really interesting. It is cream-to-powder, and once it dries it won’t move – so make sure you blend it fast! These eyeshadows provide full coverage with a matte finish and they get a little darker as they dry on your skin. Besides slightly color change, the plain matte finish gets a bit sparkling as tiny glitters appear on your skin. I was really amazed by seeing the change in the finish as I didn’t expect that and I didn’t see any other formula before that could have this kind of change!
The applicator is flat, soft and flexible. It is really similar to one in Josie Maran Vibrancy concealer, that was discussed in my previous review. This kind of applicators have a name and are called a “paddle applicator”.
As always, the formula is infused with minerals, and has some skincare benefits as well: Mango seed butter to soften and smooth the undereye area, green tea extract packed with antioxidants to protect from free radicals and camellia leaf extract for soothing and calming.
List of Ingredients:
Isododecane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propylene Carbonate, Silica, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Diacetyl Boldine, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Acrylates Copolymer, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Tin Oxide, Phenoxyethanol. May Contain (+/-): Mica, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Carmine (Ci 75470), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Bismuth Oxychloride (Ci77163), Ferric Ferrocyanide (Ci 77510).
The product is ophthalmologist-tested and safe to use around the eye area. It is paraben-free, sulfate-free, fragrance-free and talc-free, cruelty-free.
How it Feels
These eyeshadows can yield a nice full coverage and look pretty natural on my eyelids when worn alone. The key in the application is to start with a small amount and add more as you blend the product into your eyelids. They dry pretty fast so make sure you blend them as soon as the product touches your skin.
The sparkles are so subtle you may not even notice them on your lids. I’m not a “single-shadow all over the lid” type of person, but I love how Lit shade looks on me. I also like wearing it beneath the eyeshadows as it really extends the wear of the eyeshadows and it’s not as sticky as a regular eye primer.
From left to right: Lit Turned Up, Low Key
From the color that I received my best match for “natural look” is the shade Lit. So far, I do not know any other brand that has such a big selection of colored primers, so having them in 8 shades is probably more than enough.
I made a small “water-test” on these eyeshadows and to my surprise, they didn’t go anywhere at all. You can see the video on the bottom of this review.
GEN NUDE® EYESHADOW + PRIMERs are available at bareMinerals.com and Ulta for $20 each.
Bottom Line
As always there are several reasons to love bareMinerals: for the good ingredients, the color selection, and smooth formula. While it may be tricky to retract the right amount of micro liner without an ability to put it back, each of these products stay pretty well on me throughout the day while I’m spending time both indoors and outdoors.

I tried to test all of them with running warm water – as you can see on the video, nothing moves! After I finished filming, (unfortunately, I didn’t have a tripod for my phone to keep on filming), I tried to smudge the swatches with my other hand. The only thing that smudged was the mascara. I was really surprised by all the products staying pretty well after being exposed to water. I was even more surprised to see that mascara actually smudged after I touched it because it had already passed Houston-humidity test several times!
Anyways, Lashtopia Mascara remains one of my top favorite products, and now I have a few more products to add to my favorites. Gen Nude Eyeshadow + Primer in Lit became my staple especially on the days when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to blend eyeshadows but need to cover discolorations. I also pair One Fine Line eyeliner in Accurate Espresso with my favorite Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer along with Lashtopia mascara to create faux false lashes effect.
