How to Wash Makeup Brushes: Sigma Beauty Brush in Sigmagic Brushampoo Foam on Sigma Spa Express Cleaning Mat

This might sound cliche, but keeping your makeup tools clean is essential for your skincare and makeup routine. Even if you are the only one using the makeup brushes, since they come in direct contact with your skin, the makeup build-up, dead skin (it’s gross, I know), and dust can easily breed bacteria which in turn can contaminate your skin causing irritation and acne. Moreover, clean brushes make the makeup application easier. With the increased awareness about hygiene right now, I decided to cover the washing of makeup brushes in my first tutorial on TikTok.

For this video, I’m using Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat and Sigmagic Brush Shampoo Foam. Both of these cleaning products were provided by Sigma Beauty, however, neither the post or the video is sponsored, and this is exactly what I personally have been using for washing my makeup brushes for over a year.

Cleaning Tools

Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat

Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat is a special cleaning mat made of non-toxic high-grade silicone and designed specifically for washing makeup brushes. It features a patented design, with designated areas for washing, refining, and rinsing the face and eye brushes.

The compact design of the mat – 8.89 in x 6.5 in (22.5 cm x 16.5 cm) – fits any size sink – it is 32% smaller than The Original Sigma Spa® Brush Cleaning Mat. Same as the Original, Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat has 6 firm-hold suctions cups on the reverse to secure the mat on even the slickest surfaces like wet ceramic sink or countertop.

The product is formulated without Latex, BPA and Lead and comes with a 2-year warranty. it also comes in black and rose gold shade.

Sigmagic Brushampoo

Sigmagic Brushampoo Brush Cleanser comes in 2 forms: liquid and foam. I definitely love the foam more, as it saves a lot of a product in one go.

The Sigmagic Brushampoo Foam Cleanser works perfectly with synthetic brushes and can clean all types of makeup residues from the bristles, including powder, oils, creams, and liquids. The natural formula itself is tough on stains but very gentle on bristles with a very simple and short ingredients list. It consists only of 4 ingredients, including potassium hydroxide which has antimicrobial properties: Sigmagic Brushampoo cleansers prevent the growth of bacteria up to 2 weeks after each wash! The brush cleaner, in general, is pretty gentle on the skin as well. However, I noticed that if I spend a lot of time washing all of my brush collection, it can dry my hands a little bit. Sigmagic Brushampoo Cleanser is hypoallergenic, vegan, and cruelty-free.

Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Elaeis Fruit (Palm) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide.

Sigmagic Brushampoo Foam Brush Cleanser is very easy in application: you can either apply it directly on the brush bristles or to the wash areas of the mat. I prefer applying the foam to the mat as it saves me a lot of cleansing product per wash. Finally, the Brushampoo extends brush lifespan which is also important when choosing a cleanser for your favorite tools.

How to dry makeup brushes

Perhaps, the best way to dry your Sigma Brushes is to use the Sigma DRY’N SHAPE® Tower to hang them to dry and restore their natural shape during the drying process. However, I don’t have one so I’m using a traditional flat-dry method.

Before I put brushes on the towel to dry, I try to remove as much excess water as possible while keeping the natural shape of the brush. In order for me to do so, I’m using the same cleaning mat for drying as well.

Final Thoughts

Some may debate that washing your brushes with shampoo cleansers can shorten the lifespan of the brush. Fortunately, Sigmagic Brushampoo Brush Cleansers also extend the lifespan of your brushes. In addition to this, Sigma Beauty brushes they come with a 2-year warranty, and what is more, their patented design is waterproof so you can clean your brushes as many times as you want. It’s a win-win situation for your tools and your clean, happy skin!

The combination of these two cleaning products saves me a lot of time for cleaning my makeup brushes. The foam works pretty fast dissolving the makeup and the patented patterns of the mat make sure all bristles are washed properly.
