Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil is the first product from Fenty Beauty that I?ve tried so far and this crystal coated highlighter is just so worth it! Here is why you might want to try it too.

Formula
To start with, this pure brilliance highlighter features 3D jelly-powder formula that melts nicely into the skin. Because of such a unique formula, Diamond Bomb feels comfortable on your skin and is very lightweight. The highlighter is more on the glittery side rather than shimmer. Even though I personally do not like glitter in highlighters, this one looks so subtle, that it creates a beautiful diamond dusted veil rather than confetti-kind-of-glitter look on your face and body.

This type of formula reminds me of Pat McGrath Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio that I?ve reviewed earlier.
Ingredients
Diamond Bomb is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates and it is Cruelty-free.
Let?s take a closer look into the ingredients.

Diamond Bomb’s List of ingredients:
Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Diisostearyl Malate, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Mica, Tin Oxide, Water, Lauroyl Lysine, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Polyisobutene, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).
To my surprise and delight at the same time, there are no harmful ingredients found in Diamond Bomb. Dimethicone, highlighted in bold, is just a preservative, ranked 1-3 as per EWG rating depending on its concentration. What is more, EWG has rated Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb in How many Carats?! product themselves and the highlighter scored 1 in EWG rating!

Diamond Bomb Shade
Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb is available only in a single ?How Many Carats?!” shade. When you look at the highlighter in a pan, it looks like a white-based highlighter with platinum reflect. But don?t let the optical illusion fool you. The 3D formula of this compact highlighter is completely translucent! Even though the platinum reflects of the glitter is more on a cooler side, the highlighter doesn?t seem to have any distinguishing undertone when swatched on the skin. The shimmer is very subtle and it is almost invisible in the dark, especially if the light is not hitting those tiny dusty sparkles. However, when this platinum glitter starts to reflect the light, all your body and face look coated in diamonds.
Besides the glittering veil effect, this highlighter makes your skin look wet, especially when you layer and build a bit of coverage, packing more glitter on your skin. Before I tried Diamond Bomb, I heard a lot about this ?wet effect? and I wasn?t really sure what people meant by that until I tried it. Because the sparkles are so tiny, the overall skin looks glowing as if you have just moisturized your skin really well with skincare products.

Packaging
I really love this jewel-like rose gold reflective packaging and I even like the outer cardboard packaging it comes with!

This mirrored plastic compact case has tiny sparkles visible in light – same as the glitters in the highlighter.
The compact comes with a mirror, doesn?t have a magnet closure but click firmly to secure the product and mirror. It is quite lightweight and will fit most of the cosmetic bags.

How to apply Diamond Bomb
There are several ways to apply the products:
- You can strategically layer it focusing on your cheekbones, temples (Rihanna’s Way) and collar bones for high impact, wet skin effect.
- Use it as an eyeshadow coat, topping it over your favorite eyeshadows or layering it right onto your bare lids.
- Alternatively, apply a thin layer of product over your face and body to create a veil effect.
- For even more soaked in diamond effect, layer it over freshly misted face or over a cream highlighter.

I prefer using tapered highlighter brush, such as Sigma Beauty F35 Tapered Highlighter Brush with this product. This brush helps to achieve sheer to medium coverage without any harsh edges. For medium to full coverage, you might want to consider applying Diamond Bomb with Fenty Beauty Face & Body Kabuki Brush 160 that Rihanna uses in her tutorial videos.
Did you know?
This highlighter was inspired by the crystal dress Rihanna wore at CFDA 2014.
In addition to this, Diamond Bomb (Buy Now, $38) was launched within Fenty Beauty Diamond Anniversary Collection along with Gloss Bomb Lipgloss (Buy Now, $18) in Diamond Milk shade.
Comparing Diamond Bomb to Other Products
As I mentioned earlier, the formula reminds me of Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio, however, compared to Diamond Bomb it is more on the shimmering side as it has even tinier sparkles and dual chrome reflect.
So the closest match for Diamond Bomb would be Chanel Illusion D?ombre Eyeshadow in shade 81 Fantasme. The only difference is that Diamond Bomb feels somewhat softer to touch and because of the compact size and the packaging, I find it easier to use and apply. Moreover, when swatched, Chanel eyeshadow seems whiter compared to Diamond Bomb, which is more on the platinum, neutral side. As you can see, Diamond Bomb is a very subtle highlighter compared to others.
Here are swatches of mentioned products along with few other highlighters that look similar in a pan.

From left to right:
- CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in 81 Fantasme
- FENTY BEAUTY Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil in How Many Carats?!
- COVER FX Glitter Drops in Mirage
- OFRA x NIKKIETUTORIALS Everglow Highlighter in frosty white
- PAT McGRATH LABS Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio in Iridescent Pink 003
- ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Sugar Glow Kit in Marshmallow
Bottom line
Diamond Bomb is a very unique type of highlighter with very tiny sparkles. It has a very nice to touch, lightweight jelly-powder 3D formula, good-looking list of ingredients, a translucent one-size-fit-all shade and a travel-friendly case. It absolutely lives to the hype and I?m super excited to have it in my collection.
