Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm Review

By 6 min read

Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm from Farmacy Beauty has become one of my Holy Grail skincare products that I use daily and have been repurchasing for three times in a row. In this post, you’ll find out what is it, how the formula looks like, how to use this balm cleanser and why you might want to add this product to your skincare routine.

What is a Green Clean balm?

Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing balm is exactly what it says it is: it’s a facial cleansing balm that literally melts the impurities and makeup away from your face. It looks and feels like butter for your face and it instantly melts once it warms up on your skin and washes off really well without leaving any residues on your skin. Farmacy Beauty cleansing balm works with all different skin types, and also feels gentle on my sensitive skin.

Green Clean Formula

The formula of this cleansing balm is very nourishing, doesn’t strip or overdry the skin, even though it works really well with long-wear makeup, thanks to Sunflower and Ginger Root oils. It also contains Turmeric and Moringa extracts that help to cleanse sunscreen residues and other pollutants and impurities. Besides the cleansing skin ingredients, Green Clean also contains Papaya Enzymes that gently exfoliates the pores. If you are just like me concerned about some clogged pored in your undereye area or the skin around your lips, you can easily use this balm to clean up your skin without damaging the delicate skin.

Green Clean has a very subtle scent – a balanced blend of line, bergamot and orange essential oils. The balm has an interesting texture that reminds me of sorbet. While I work Green Clean into the skin, the sorbet-like balm turns to silky oil and when in contact with water, it transforms into a milky lather that leaves no residue after I wash it off my face.

In general, the list of ingredients looks pretty good. It is free of sulfates, parabens, and silicones and mineral oil. The product is vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free. Green Clean bears Sephora Clean Seal, so the concentration, as well as the impurity concern of several ingredients in bold, is likely to be really low. How to Use Green Clean

Time needed: 2 minutes

Green Clean works even with the most stubborn makeup. You’ll find a video of my washing off my Halloween makeup with this cleanser.

1. Scoop a generous amount with the included spatula.

Warm it a little bit with your fingers and apply to your face

2. Use your fingertips to massage into skin

Massage Green Clean with gentle upward and outward circular motions, focusing on areas that need attention (like eye makeup). When removing eye makeup, keep your eyes close.

3. Take it all off

Splash with water or wipe off with a warm, damp washcloth

4. Enjoy your clean skin

Packaging

Green Clean from Farmacy Beauty comes in a fully recyclable plastic jar within a recyclable paper packaging. The cleansing balm also comes with a spatula that you use to scoop the product from the jar. The spatula helps with getting the product out of the jar while also prevents the product from bacteria and helps to preserve the texture of the balm since the product melts when you touch it. I like the design of the plastic lid insert, that keeps the product from drying out and is also designed to store a spatula.

What comes within the paper package

I personally prefer cleansing balms as they are more gentle as you use only a product and your fingers without tugging your skin. Compared to oil cleansers, balms seem to work better for me dissolving more makeup with just one application. In addition to this, oil cleansers tend to get into my eyes, while I cannot say the same about cleansing balm as it washes off really easy, in particular, the one from Farmacy Beauty.

Sizing and Pricing

Green Clean comes in three different sizes, mini (1.7 oz /50 ml), full-size (3.4 oz/100 ml) and jumbo-limited edition (6.8oz/ 200 ml). There is also another limited-edition variation of Green Clean, called Very Cherry Clean, available in full size only (3.4 oz/100 ml).

The retail price of Green Clean depending on the size mentioned above is $22, $34 and $58 respectfully. The retail price for the full-size of Very Cherry Clean is also $34.

The design of the jar slightly changed: you can see old jars with a metallic lid that were redesigned to a fully recyclable white plastic lid with a brand logo on it.

Since the balm is solid and melts only on contact with skin, it won’t spill during travel. I also have a travel size of the balm so that I refill from the larger tub and take with me on any trip.

Meet Very Cherry Clean- Green Clean’s Little Cherry Sister

Verry Cherry Clean is a limited-edition version of OG Green Clean, released last year during the Sephoria 2019 event. It has the same formula and texture as its older brother. The only difference of Verry Cherry Clean is the addition of acerola cherry, rich in vitamin C, that contributes to a nice cherry scent, and its beautiful baby-pink color.

As you can see, the list of ingredients for Very Cherry Clean is very close to Green Clean. Since there is no much difference in formula, the application remains the same. Very Cherry Clean is available only in one standard size. It was sold out already at the beginning of 2020, but now it is back on sale in limited quantity for a limited time. You can find Very Cherry Clean here.

Update: As of now, the Very Cherry Clean cleansing balm is back in stock for a limited time (04/29/20). Follow Sun Kissed Blush on Instagram to get the latest notifications about the next restock!

Final Thoughts

I was using the Very Cherry Clean in my first trimester, and the cherry fragrance felt a little too strong for me, so I loved Green Clean more during that sensitive time. However, it was really so much fun to use the pink balm instead of a regular green one.

It is important to note, that I have been repurchasing Green Clean for at least 3 times, and I don’t plan to switch to another cleanser anytime soon. I use this cleanser daily and I can tell that my skin improved in time. I love how my bare skin feels soft and bouncy after using this cleanser. As I mentioned earlier, it is very travel-friendly and it accompanies me on every trip, regardless of how far I go.

Sun Kissed Blush Approved 2020 Farmacy Beauty Green Clean

The Green Clean is definitely #sunkissedblush_approved and it’s a cleanser I can recommend to every person at any age with any skin type.
