Best Soothing Lotion for Sensitive Skin

By 2 min read

After the poll in my Instagram account, I decided to make a series about my skin care routine.

Today’s post is dedicated to the Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion by Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins.  I was surprised by the effect of this lotion, so I decided to make a separate post about this magical product.

I have sensitive skin, especially on my forehead after I get my brows shaped. I cannot get my eyebrows threaded or waxed because I get such a bad irritation that turns into acne and it heals up only by the time I need to groom my eyebrows again. The skin also gets irritated after tweezing, but I found a solution by applying the anti-acne product that calms my skin and prevents acne.

For years, I have been using Clinique Anti-Blemish ( known as in the EU or Acne Solutions in the USA) Clarifying Lotion for the whole face (as a teenager) and later on only on my forehead after tweezing. I found this product really good because of its active ingredient –  Salicylic Acid. I remember I even panicked if I could forget to take it with me for my brow appointment.

A couple of months ago I’ve been at my regular browbar appointment and suddenly I realized that I didn’t take my Clinique lotion with me and they didn’t carry it in that particular store. I asked for a skin soothing lotion and I was introduced to this green bottle.

I applied it on my forehead right after the tweezing and on the next day, I was amazed by the effect that my skin wasn’t irritated, red or covered with small pimples. At the same time, the skin wasn’t over-dried as it usually happened with Clinique.

On my next visit to the store, I’ve checked the ingredient list – 2/3 of it are the natural extracts and essential oils with the main ingredient  –  reishi mushroom extract.

This so-called “Mushroom of Immortality” is grown in China and is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This mushroom is known for promoting longevity, as well as for its healing and soothing properties, which are especially good for calming the sensitive skin.

The lotion has a very nice fragrance, which reminds me of the aromatherapy at Spa’s.  I bought it right away and now it’s a part of my day and night time skincare routine. Indeed, it calms the skin, reduces the redness and is quite moisturizing. Bye-bye dry irritated skin!
