Amika: Polished Perfection Straightening Brush

By 3 min read

After so many makeovers and color treatments (because life is too short to have just one hair color!) and changing 3 countries within the last 3 years, my hair is no longer straight from roots to ends. There is a part that I love about my hair now since volume is now present in my roots ( thanks to Living Proof Full Shampoo), however, the ends are not flattering at all. And while I can justify that “I woke up like this” hairstyle look is still in trend, it doesn’t always look good, at least, not the way it makes me feel beautiful #badhairday. And I’m too lazy to blow dry with a round brush every time I wash my hair.

I always avoided flat irons, because I didn’t need them in the first place and they are can cause damage to my hair. I’ve never had hair this long as I do right now, but flat irons are still not an option. Thanks for the existence of straightening brushes.

After watching several Instagram videos, I came to a decision that I need a straightening brush. And my research led me to Polished Perfection from Amika. It was featured in Allure magazine several times and it has become one of the best selling items at Sephora for the last year. After reading the description of technologies used and how user-friendly their brush is, I decided to give it a try.

Here is my unboxing and review video, where you can see how to operate the brush and why I think it’s the best one on the market.

A few years ago, Amika updated Polished Perfection Brush releasing the 2.0 version. I was lucky to get my hands on the updated tool as a part of the Sephora Squad program.

I could see the difference between the two versions of Polished Perfection Straightening Thermal Brush. First, the 2.0 version of Polished Perfection Brush has built-in iRed technology – you can see red lights on the brush when it is on. Due to this technological update, the tool is heating up faster and deeper compared to the original model. On top of that, millions of negative ions projected with every single pass help with sealing cuticles. This upgrade helps to achieve smoother, shinier hair with less damage and frizz.

On top of that, the handle at the back of this tool is cooler compared to the 1.0 model, and the display with temperature looks brighter. The bristles of the upgraded are also slimmer, which helps with gliding through hair easier.

Finally, I found the 2.0 Polished Perfection Straightening Brush quieter, almost silent, compared to the humming of the original brush.

To sum up, I love the upgraded version and keeping it in my tools collection.
