The pumpkin season is finally here! Some of my friends in Canada are already greeting their first snow while my fellow Houstonians are still trying to survive 100 degree heat. Regardless of what season you are in, and what “autumn” reality you are facing, you might want to keep this beautiful sun-kissed blush (read as “healthy glow”) that you’ve got during the summertime all year round.
For me, the healthy glow starts with a blush that adds a wash of color to your face. Today blushes come in a variety of formulas and finishes, from powders to creams, liquids, sticks, and even cushions! The shades may vary from one product to another. Honestly, there is no limitation on a shade or finish, as long as it warms up your complexion and gives you a gorgeous healthy glow.
With this in mind, here are my top 16 blushes to get that beautiful sun-kissed blush look throughout the year.
When I think of Charlotte Tilbury, I picture healthy glowing skin and effortlessly natural-looking makeup. I’ll start with her cult compact creamy duo powder blush. Each shade consists of two colors “filled with finely crushed pearls” for a glowing complexion. I like the shade Ecstasy as it has that light bronzish shade in the outer rim for your cheekbones and a coral shade in the center to add a pop of color to the apples of your cheeks. You can apply them separately or mix together.
Beach Lip & Cheek Stick in Formentera ($45, Buy Now)
Charlotte Tilbury has a specific product to create a summer glow that you can get only at the beach. While you can choose between 4 satin shades for both lips and cheeks, I prefer the Formentera shade, which is described as “sun-kissed berry“. Charlotte Tilbury usually uses this shade for Kate Moss. The formula is well-blendable, buildable and is infused with ceramidone – an ingredient that blurs our pores, fine lines and smoothes dry skin. The stick is so easy to work with: all you need is just your fingers to apply it all over your face. The compact packaging makes it even more travel-friendly.
Liquid Blush in Dolce Vita (SALE $25.50, Buy Now)
Nars, probably, can be called the King of Blushes. Liquid blush is one of the popular product this brand and for the sun-kissed blush look, I prefer the Dolce Vita shade. The coverage of these liquid blushes is buildable and they blend pretty well. The formula is infused with monoi and tamanu oils – say goodbye to cakey looking powdery cheeks.
This is a multi-purpose stick for eyes, cheeks, lips, and body. My favorite shade is Portofino, as it is warmer and more pigmented than cult-favorite Orgasm and adds the right amount of color and coverage to my cheeks. These multi-sticks are infused with antioxidants of vitamin E and açai oil for skin-care benefits and it is so easy to use! Just use your fingertips to apply and blend it out!
Orgasm Blush (Limited Edition) (SALE $33.15, Buy Now)
Cult-favorite, iconic blush from Nars comes in an oversized pan. This shade was designed to flatter any complexion and its warm golden shimmer with flush pink undertone will work perfectly for any season. Use it with your favorite bronzer if you want to add even more warmth to your skin.
I like this fine pigmented powder blush in shade Blossom. The coverage is buildable and the product blends easily for an effortless sun-kissed blush look. The blush comes with an angled brush which is really handy on-the-go.
Ambient® Lighting Blush in Incandescent Electra ($38, Buy Now)
Terracotta Light Powder ($53, Buy Now)
Terracotta Healthy Glow Blush Bronzer Powder Duo ($54, Buy Now)
This is the Terracotta blush and bronzer that I’m using at the moment. Same as with the Terracotta light powder discussed above, it comes in a single pan with a bronzing and blush powders, which you can mix together to create an amazing sun-kissed radiance, or used separately as a bronzer and as a blush. Even though I’m a brunette, I love the shade 02 Natural/ Blonde.
No Blush Blush SPF 30 ($35, Buy Now)
When speaking of universal blushes to flatter any skin tone, think of this liquid blush: it adjusts to your complexion for perfect a fit. This blush has warm rosy pink undertone and contains mineral sunscreen with broad spectrum and ingredients with skincare benefits.
Inner Glow Cheek Powder in Twilight Hour ($29, Buy Now)
The new collection from Shiseido makeup line contains this beautiful silk-kimono inspired blush. The formula is long lasting thanks to the cream-powder matrix system.
The finish is satin, while the formula contains refined mica that provides unique a “lit-from-within glow“. My favorite shade is Twilight Hour which can be described as a coral pink shade.
Organic Certified Highlighting Blush ($42, Buy Now)
If you prefer something organic, think of Antonym. They have a baked highlight blush in a beautiful “one-and-only” peachy shade. The blush contains certified organic ingredients, it is cruelty-free and has a Sephora clean seal.
High-end Tom Ford Beauty makeup brand also has a selection of blush colors that will help you achieve a radiant healthy glow. I like the shade Love Lust as it has that peach undertone and nice shimmer in it. The coverage is buildable, while the formula features spherical pearls and rich emollients for luminosity and velvet finish.
Gen Nude Pressed Powder Blush in Peachy Keen ($24.00, Buy Now)
Speaking of natural radiant blush, we can’t miss BareMinerals’ Gen Nude Powder Blush collection which features 12 shades of nudes for blushes, with all the right undertones, including beige, pink, mauve and peach. For the sun-kissed blush effect, I’d suggest using the Peachy Keen shade which is a matte velvety blush with peachy undertones. The shade will work across all complections from fair to deep and the formula is free of talc. The blush instantly warms up the complexion adding nice color to your cheeks. The coverage is buildable and same as with other products from Gen Nude collection, it is easy to use and hard to overdo.
This just-released cushion blush is an absolute innovation for me. Together with Memebox, Sephora has created a first K-beauty line – the Kaja brand. Cheeky Stamp Blendable Blush is something you have definitely never tried before. At least, I haven’t.
As expected from the name, it’s a press stamp blush with a heart-shaped sponge applicator. You press cushion on each cheek once for a natural glow or twice for a pop of color. My personal choice is 03 Bossy as it has tropical coral shade and in my opinion, works best across different complexions.
